Hurst, Kaplan, or ATI? Which is better?

The Official Review of Hurst, Kaplan & ATI.

Hurst course review, pros and cons

Hurst Review

Many nursing students are praising Hurst for its method of Simplifying long & intense nursing science into a short,  easy-to-understand review.
This review course will NOT merely repeat what you learned in nursing classes- It will break down, simplify nursing science and will drill it so well, you’ll feel much confident when taking the NCLEX exam

With high passing rates, positive praises from nursing students, and a practical course at a reasonable price, Hurst looks like a smart choice.

Hurst’s Highlight Features

  • Simplified & organized hard nursing content into an easy-to-understand review.
  • 3 Review options- live class, live webinar and online (recorded) review
  • Content F.A.Q’s & Nurse coach support (if have any questions along the way)
  • More affordable compare to competitors.
  • Repeat or 100% Refund.

Kaplan Review

The Kaplan NCLEX review course is known for its Decision-Tree method & Q-bank.

Kaplan “Decision Tree” is a 5-step framework method to answer NCLEX-style questions. The entire review consists of analyzing and answering questions using The Decision Tree. Though it may look helpful at first glance, many students report it to be impractical for its inability to answer all questions effectively, especially if lack the knowledge. Also, using the decision tree may slow you down during exams.
There is an additional library of videos & study materials available for self-study, however, many find the content videos long & tedious.

Kaplan’s strongest feature is the large Qbank, which is also available for a monthly price as little as 59$/month.

For the price of $500, the impractical decision tree, a library of 300+ videos, and voices of disappointed students. Kaplan’s NCLEX review seems quite pricey.

Kaplan’s Highlighted features:

  • The Decision-Tree method
  • Large NCLEX-style question bank.
  • Large video & resource library.
  • 3 Review options- live class, live webinar and online (recorded) review
  • Full refund available (if meet criteria)
Kaplan course review, pros and cons
ATI review, pros & cons

ATI Review

ATI’s NCLEX review available  as “Live-class” or ” Virtual Review”

The “Virtual review” is 6-12 weeks online review with an instructor that will build a study plan based on your initial assessment test scores and your progress. However, it’s worth to mention that there are mixed reviews regarding the Virtual Review effectiveness.

ATI also offers a large content library with videos & Qbank with reports to track progress. But many find ATI’s video database overwhelming and not optimized. There are even reports of inconsistency between content, and even misleading information.

It makes sense to use ATI if you already signed up for it via your school or if “one-on-one” type of class appeals to you.

ATI’s Highlighted features.

  • Virtual coach review
  • 3 Review options- live class or  online review with a “coach”
  • Access to ATI’s content library
  • Maybe cheaper if you are ” Existing customer”
  • NCLEX style questions & exams

Hi everyone! Ive been doing a lot of research on which review class is better, hurst or Kaplan. I am torn between them :(((( So i graduated 6 yrs ago in a foreign country, passed my boards too. Ive been out with clinicals for years yet dont want to give up my dream. So I am planning to take NCLEX-PN exam early next year. Any suggestions anyone? Im thinking to go and do the Kaplan Live Online classes. I just want to make sure I am choosing the right thing. I need atleast 3 months of learning. Im a visual learner too, so videos would help a lot. I heard That kaplan’s q bank is very helpful. Tho Hurst videos are fun and very easy to remember. So i am really tornnnn. I need test taking strat and core content! Helpppppp

If you need to study for the NCLEX-PN, may I suggest you using the following:
      1)Hurst for material review.
      2)Uworld.com for questions review.
3)RNpedia.com– free website to look up nursing-related material.

(Uworld is equivilant to Kaplan’s Qbank but with some advatages. An article with more information is coming soon).
